Richard Greaves: Portraits in Oil

In this line of work you get to meet some really lovely people and Tommy and Lucy certainly are. This was a wedding gift for the ‘soon to be married’ couple and I wanted this portrait to sparkle and represent them in a special way, but not just be a sentimental cliché. The gold leaf background certainly sparkles and feels classical, reminiscent of something I’ve seen in Pre-Raphaelite paintings and therefore, going way back, on triptychs from the middle ages.
